We all enjoyed performing our song.

Some children didn’t like the Pirate Hats with the skull bones on.
It was interesting wearing our costumes and seeing other children in costume.
Many of us loved the final song ‘Hoist the Anchor’.
Feeling nervous about going on stage.
Joshua thought the treasure chest was interesting.
Being on the stage for the first time.
When we were waiting in the hall with the rest of the school it was very noisy.
Sophie thought it was interesting that all the songs in the production were different.
Getting a treat after the show eg McDonalds.

Logan thought it was interesting that the mice had face paint on.
Events coming up; this week we have the Disco on Friday night. This is a fun event funded by our  PTA. It starts at 5.30--7.pm for our children. Parents are welcome to stay or drop off. There will be teachers there and PTA to supervise.
Reports go home this Friday and on Monday and Tuesday of week 11 we hold Parent/Teacher  interviews. Please note school closes at 2 pm on both days! Spread the word to those who do not read the blog. For those children who are unable to be picked up they will be supervised to 3 pm in either the library or the hall.

Round up of Term 2 Week 8

Last week we did do other things beside getting ready for the school Production!
In Religious Education we are studying the God Strand. We are learning about how God created the world and discussing all the things that God created. We are also looking at the difference between what people make and God creates.

David is drawing one of God's creations while Brooke and Liam wait their turn.

A pic collage of the children standing by something made by people.

This coming week as you all know is the Production--'Treasure Island'. There is  notice about Wednesday that will be emailed out to you. We would like the children at school on Wednesday in time to board buses at 9 am, No school uniform is required that day, just come in sports uniform. Their costumes should be at school as they will change into these before they go to Villa. Lunches please can they be in a named plastic bag so that they are easy to transport.

Its going to be a busy 2 days for us all. Remember the children are to be dropped at Villa by 6 pm in their costume for a 6.30 pm start on both Wednesday and Thursday nights. The show should be over by 7.30 pm.

I am sure you will all love the show;our main actors are great and all the classes coming on look brilliant in their costumes and have put a lot of time into their songs.

A pic collage of Pirate day that I couldn't send last week.

Pirate Day

Friday June 5th

A change to the notice that I sent in the weekend --We did send home paper copies yesterday;

Rutherford Team Pirate Day                                                  Friday June 5th 2015

Hi All
There is slight adjustment to the notice that went out on some class blogs in the weekend. We are aware that it is a short week and also we are not sure how many parents read the blogs;
Children come in their sports uniform no school uniform needed. If they have any pirate accessories please bring them along.
We will be making pirate things and there will be an opportunity for some pirate drama!

Rutherford Teachers

Term 2 Week 7

Hi All,

 I hope this finds you all enjoying the long weekend! I am afraid no pics from last week, it was taken up with Liz Hooker teaching for 2 days and lots of Production practice.

By now the children who are the Villagers [working with Cushla in Rm 12] have their notice re their costume for Treasure Island and so do the children playing the mice [working with Jane and Liz]. Mr Grant has the children playing the pirates and his notice will be out this week.

The Rutherford Team are planning on a fun week this week. Our work, maths reading, writing and art  will be centered around the theme of Pirates!!

On Friday Morning we ask that the children come dressed as pirates--please read notice below--its optional. NB: Its not a mufti day if they don't want to get dressed up it's school uniform. They might want to just wear a pirate hat, or carry a telescope  etc....

I will be at school but out of the classroom tomorrow this time checking over teacher's reports. Its a long process before that report arrives at your house!! Liz Hooker will be teaching Tuesday and Wednesday.

Regards
Mary
